Replacement Swimming Pool AHU and Controls
As the trusted long-term Service and Maintenance partner for many schools throughout East Anglia, a large prestigious Academy in Norwich approached us to replace their swimming pool air handling unit (AHU), ductwork, and controls system.
The Challenge
The existing swimming pool AHU and ductwork were at the end of their life expectancy and had failed. Being that this was critical to the operation of the pool area, BML was asked to provide a turn-key project solution during the summer holidays, ready for the pupils upon their return from the summer break. Without the new plant installed, the pool could not be used.
Results
Our in-house Project Manager first designed the new system and created a series of CAD drawings for approval by the Trust before we set to work on the programme of works and the H&S plan. We opted for a Dantherm Calorex Delta AHU, as it is designed specifically for swimming pools and has a built-in dehumidification system. The old, galvanised ductwork in the pool area was corroded, so a new ventilation sock system was designed and installed, along with new ventilation duct work to the AHU.
Building work was also carried out on the roof to accommodate the new duct work and steel supports for the new unit. Finally, a new RDM touchscreen controller for the existing pool heating system was also installed to finish off the installation.
